How to Care for Your Skin During Winter and the Holidays

Posted by on 11/28/2017

The weather outside is frightful and so is the crowd at the mall.

With the holidays upon us it’s easy to get caught up in a frenetic schedule where our personal needs take a back seat to a crazy calendar of holiday parties, out-of-town travel and endless shopping lists.  Although we are all vulnerable to the annual holiday rush, it’s important to exhale and care for our personal health and hygiene. This includes our established skin care routine.

To Maintain Healthy Skin, Follow These Tips:

1.    Stick with Your Regular Routine

Our calendars this time of year are filled with activities and events typically non-existent during any other month. Our schedules become chaotic, with long-distance travel visiting relatives and more. Despite these fluctuations, it’s important to adhere to our regular and typical routine as much as possible.

For instance, if you cleanse, exfoliate and use toner nightly, continue - even if you’re not in your own environment.

If you find it cumbersome to travel with your regular size skin care products, pack smaller Travel Size options.

Avoid using hotel products or transitional skin care to minimize exposure to foreign products that might cause an adverse reaction.

2.    Prepare for a Change in Environment, Weather and Climate

Travel can result in a continuous shift in environmental stressors and fluctuating weather conditions. This can strain the skin in a number of ways, including exposure to new elements.

Don’t forget to regularly moisturize if you plan to travel to drier climates. Bring a facial moisturizer with SPF to protect the skin against harmful UV rays if you plan outdoor activities, like a New Year’s ski trip.

In essence, plan for the demands of a new environment and have appropriately tailored products available to you should you need them.

3.    Get a Proper Night’s Rest

When we’re overbooked, our valuable free time takes a beating.

A 24-hour day can never be extended and sometimes that means subtracting hours from our sleep schedule in order to pack holiday activities into the other parts of the day.

The benefits of sleeping at least 7 hours or more cannot be overstated when it comes to skin care. When we lack sleep, it shows in our face and skin, particularly the delicate area around the eyes.

If you have nights with less-than-adequate sleep, compensate for the loss with an effective eye cream. Épicé’ Skincare’s Smoothing Eye Cream contains Swiss Apple Stem Cells and Hyaluronic Acid, both effective in renewing skin cells.

This beneficial eye cream protects against photoaging effects while stimulating tissue growth. It noticeably heals dry or cracked skin and reduces the swelling of dry, puffy eye regions.

4.    Stay Hydrated

Our body is comprised of about 60% water and water is the essence for our survival: Most of us could not survive more than 3 days without it.

Drinking plenty of water aids our body by replenishing lost fluids and removing toxins. Drinking water essentially equates to keeping our cells hydrated. Hydration plays an important role in skincare health by preventing discoloration and dryness.

Externally, applying an effective moisturizer can keep your skin supple and plump.

Épicé Skincare offers a Therapeutic Moisturizer with a blend of Aloe, Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter to hydrate and soften skin.
